WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE A TODDLER WITH FOOD ALLERGY????

I have an 18 months toddler with a food allergies (mostly to milk and egg). What to do, what to do?????

Don't fret.

I discovered the fact that she suffers from the allergies when she was almost 5 months old. This was a new experienced for me coz my first child was never having any allergy whatsoever. So, the first thing that came to my mind was the dreadful CHICKEN POX!

After several visits to GPs and Skin specialist and a few hundreds Ringgits, finally a doctor from Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya concluded that she suffers a food allergy and must avoid milk and eggs (at least until she gets older).

And as I am still breastfeeding my toddler, I too have to be careful of what I eat. Mind you, it is not as easy as you think. I'm a food lover and obsess about food. So, I'm constantly feeling guilty after noticing that my daughter started to scratch her body out of itchiness from the consequences of me eating a slice of heavenly cheese cake!

Oh, before I forget. Just to warn you all. Not all the soy drink, soy ice cream, and any soy products are solely soy base. Some manufacturers love to make our life miserable by adding milk in it.

Words of wisdom:

1) If you noticed that your child is suffering from anything unusual, please consult a doctor quickly

2) If you are exclusively breastfeeding your child, please be careful of what you put in your mouth

3) Always read each and every food labels that you buy for your household

4) Always prepare his/her anti-allergy/anti-histamine (in the case of sudden allergy reaction)

5) Don't stress yourself. You are not alone. There are lots of other desperate moms out there.
